Breguet was established in Paris, France in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet, and is one of the oldest surviving manufacturers of fine and complicated luxury timepieces. Very early on, Breguet became the choice timepiece for European royalty. Kings, queens and country leaders were among Breguet’s clients including Louis XVI, Queen Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte, Queen Victoria and Sir Winston Churchill. Breguet was a true pioneer in watchmaking technologies. His most famous was the “tourbillon regulator” developed and patented in 1801. For Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, he conceived in 1810 the world's very first wristwatch. In 1830, he developed the first watch with keyless winding. These are just a few examples of Breguet’s breakthroughs in the advancement of timepieces. Beauty has always been another key attribute of Breguet timepieces, which can be easily recognized with their coin-edge fluted cases, guilloché dials and blue pomme hands (often referred to as “Breguet hands”). Today Breguet is located in Vallée de Joux in Switzerland and continues to lead the watch industry with innovation and beautifully handcrafted timepieces that are true works of art.
