The big blue is the stone’s name… The 29.6 carat blue diamond was found at the Cullinan mine in South Africa fetched almost $900,000 per carat as it sold for $25.6 million!

This stone has been considered by some to be one of the most important blue diamonds ever discovered. The stone was discovered early in January 2014 and has magnificent clarity , saturation, and tone. The huge vivid blue diamond is truly extraordinary.

The stone could be cut to rival the resulting polished & cut stone of the “Star of Josephine” (shown below). The “Star of Josephine” diamond started as a 26.6 carat blue rough diamond and resulted in a 7 ct. polished stone that sold for $9,000,000 at an auction in 2009.

A 7.59 carat, internally flawless, fancy vivid blue diamond is displayed at Sotheby's auction house in New York
