Join Hodinkee as they delve inside the F.P. Journe Factory to learn more about the making of their grande sonnerie. The first ever grande sonnerie & petite sonnerie complication watches were created in 1992 by, none other than, Philippe Dufour. The complication is so special that François-Paul Journe launched his Sonnerie Souveraine timepiece in 2006, by himself.

Take this into account as you watch the making of F.P. Journe’s most impressive complication – The F.P. Journe Grande et Petite Sonnerie.

The lead color for women for the Spring/Summer 2015 season, PANTONE 14-4313 Aquamarine is an airy blue with a dreamy feel. Cool and calming, ethereal Aquamarine is a shade with a wet and watery feel. Open and expansive, this restful blue also acts as a stress reducer.

Generally not thought of as a fashion color, though it does come back from time to time, PANTONE 14-5714 Lucite Green is a soothing green shade whose time has really come again. Fresh and clarifying, cool and refreshing, Lucite Green has a minty glow. Light in weight and also in tone, Lucite Green seems almost transparent. It pairs well with many blues.

Just as the name implies, PANTONE 13-0720 Custard is a delicious and delectable yellow. Sweet and sunny, Custard is a cheering tone that brings thoughts of pleasant relaxation and comfort food. Engaging with its soft and mellow warmth and full of good feelings, subtle Custard has an affable and easy disposition.

Spontaneous and gregarious, PANTONE 15-1247 Tangerine is a juicy orange shade that is energizing, yet not jarring to the eye. Versatile Tangerine is striking enough to stand on its own and adds vitality to a printed pattern. Good natured and friendly, but with a tangy edge, this fun-loving color invites a smile.

There were a lot of great looks this year, but we are already looking forward to next year! I wonder what will steal the show then?

Let’s face it, jewelry is expensive. So when you are traveling, you need to make sure that you are taking care of it! Here are some helpful tips for when traveling with jewelry!

-Photograph your jewelry: if a piece is lost and later find, this will let you be able to identify it!

-Carry your jewelry with you: pack your jewelry in your carry-on because checked bags can easily get lost!

-Pack your jewelry in plastic bags: put each piece in its own bag and label the bag with a description of what’s inside it. This lets you quickly see everything that you’ve brought. REMEMBER, do not store pearls in plastic bags for extended periods of time.

-String chains through straws: this prevents the chains getting tangled and can save you a headache later on!

Remember these hints for the next time you travel!

The emerald is a stone known for its undeniable allure and stunning color. It is generally associated with lush landscapes and the deepest greens. That is why Ireland’s nickname is the Emerald Isle.

Emeralds are 20 times rarer than diamonds. This lack of supply caused them to fall out of the limelight in the past. However, new emeralds have been mined in Colombia  and Brazil. This new supply has made the jewels popular again, despite the demand still outweighing the supply.

Celebrities have had a history of wearing this beautiful stone– Elizabeth Taylor often wore emeralds, Jackie Kennedy’s engagement ring was an emerald and Angelina Jolie sported a stunning pair to the Oscars in 2009.

So, if you are in the need for a new piece of jewelry, an emerald may be the way to go!

Brides go through great lengths to find that perfect wedding dress. It only makes sense that they would spend just as much time searching for jewelry to compliment their dress.

Right now, brides are searching for pieces that compliment their personality. They want to be unique and have jewelry that is unlike anything that their friends have ever seen.

For engagement rings, the younger brides are choosing princess and cushion cut diamonds most often. This differs from what the older generations chose. However, the new brides are searching for a modern style with a classic twist.

There has been a renaissance in brides choosing colorful jewelry. They are not scared to choose colorful pieces. Pink and blue diamonds are becoming ever popular as well as blue sapphires.

The metal settings are also an important part of the jewelry pieces. Platinum and palladium are the most common metal pieces. Platinum is a classic and highlights engravings.

Finally, we are currently seeing designers being inspired by nature, like this beautiful ring.

Pay attention to these trends at the next wedding you attend!

Every girl grows up reading fairy-tales like Cinderella and Rapunzel. These stories provide the inspiration for women’s want of a royal wedding. Unfortunately, there are not to many royals in the world, so the chance for a royal wedding is slim. However, just because you are not royal does not mean you can’t be accessorized like a princess.

Compliment your beautiful wedding dress with vintage inspired jewelry to make your wedding as close to that fairy-tale wedding as possible. Vintage jewelry was more elaborate than the jewelry of today, so it is sure to wow your wedding guests!

Think long chandelier earrings and a choker with an elaborate pendant in the middle.

If you are not wearing a veil, opt for a jewel encrusted hair clip for an extra pop. Remember, everyone will see your arms as you walk down the aisle, so a bracelet is necessary. A bejeweled bangle will add that extra something to make you look like a princess.

It is important to make sure your jewelry is not clashing with your wedding dress!

Keep these thoughts in mind:
-if you are wearing white, gold may clash… we suggest going with pearl or platinum
-if you are wearing diamond-white, gold and silver would work well
-if you are wearing ivory, stick to gold to bring out the creamy tint of the fabric

Don’t forget about your neckline! A great necklace is just as important as the ring! It can add character to your gown or highlight a unique feature.

The best advice we can give: when in doubt, stick to the basics. You can’t beat a pair of diamond drop earrings with a strand of pearls or a diamond chocker.

While the engagement ring is an extremely important part of getting married, let’s not forget about the wedding band! This is equally important as both the bride and groom get one!

798BBCEEE64F4986A5FD47A02115D805

Give yourself time to pick out the right band– you can always bring the band back to get it engraved since it can take up to a month to get it done!

Have a budget, but make sure you get something that you will enjoy! Remember, you will be wearing this everyday!

Make sure your rings respects your lifestyle! Those who enjoy sports or music should opt for a comfort fitting ring.. slimmer ring with rounded edges, rather than a wide, bulky band. Those who work with their hands will want a simple, solid metal ring, as stones can come loose and carvings will trap dirt.

Think about all of these things so that you can have the perfect wedding band!
